Observation 5

Observation 5

This late in the observations more organisms that I had not seen before were coming into the aquarium.

Alasomas- huge moving organisms that are found across the bottom of the aquarium

Oscillatoria- these were not moving and they were found at the bottom all the way up to the bottom of the middle layer

Amoeba- there was only one amoeba that I saw and it was at the bottom of the middle layer. it was moving but not very fast

Desmids- even more that the times before. They are starting to get into the middle layer of the aquarium.

Diatoms- like the desmids there are more diatoms than last time. They have covered the bottom, but they dd not go to the middle of the tank.

Philodina Rotifer- A new organism that I found. I did not see many because they were moving fast, but I only found them at the bottom of the tank.

Dinoflagellate- there were only a couple of these. They were moving along the bottom of the tank.

Cyclidium-These were all over the bottom of the tank. They were moving fast

Gymnodinium- a moving organism that I saw at the bottom of the tank. There weren't that many of them

Pinnularia- was in the middle of the tank. It wasn't moving and there weren't that many of them.

Anisonema- I only saw one, but there could have been more. It was at the bottom of the tank, and was moving.

Observation 4

Observation 4

A food pellet was added to the aquarium.

This is a picture of a pinnularia that was found at the bottom of the micro aquarium.

This is a picture of an alasoma. There were a lot of the alasoma all across the bottom of the tank. As you can see it is right above the floor of the aquarium.

This amoeba was found in the middle of the aquarium, and this was the only amoeba I found.

This one of only a couple anisonema that I found. They were all around the bottom of the middle of the tank.

The Cyclidium was found at the bottom of the tank. I only found a couple of these organisms, and they were moving fast in twitching motions.

The Occilatora was found at the bottom of the aquarium. I found them all over the place, and they were moving.

Observation 3

Observation 3

This week the amount of organisms increased greatly.

  • Diatoms-there is no change in information in the diatoms
    • there was an increase in the amount of dead diatoms
  • Philodina Rotifer-there are more than last week. Also they can be found further up in the aquarium
  • Desmids-the amount of these increased. They could be found more easily in the middle of the aquarium, but they cannot be found in the top water.
  • Blue-Green Algae- like the other organisms the blue green algae increased greatly
  • Mosquito Larva- turned out that it wasn't mosquito larva, I couldn't quite tell what the organism was because it was moving so fast
  • Leeches-I actually could not find the leeches this week
  • Paramecium-found in the lower to middle area of the tank. The organsim was moving
  • gastrotrich- I found this organism in the bottom of the tank. This organism was also moving.

Observation 2

Observation 2

This week the amount of organisms found in the aquarium increased drastically.
  • Philodina Rotifer- A lot of thesse organisms were found at the bottom of the aquarium. They could be found usually in groups. These organisms were moving organisms.
  • Diatoms- There was an increase in diatoms. They are still only located at the bottom though.
  • Desmids- this is a new organism that I did not previously find. These were located all over the bottom of my aquarium. These organisms were not moving.
  • Blue-Green Algae- These were covering the bottom of my aquarium. They didn't move but there were so many of them in parts of the aquarium that it was difficult to see other organisms.
  • Mosquito Larva- I was not able to find the pone mosquito larva from the previous observation.
  • Leeches- There were still only a few leeches at the bottom of the aquarium.

Observation 1

Observation 1

When looking at the micro-aquarium I saw a couple of different organisms.
  •  Leeches-there were a few leeches found at the bottom of the aquarium. The leeches were a moving organism
  • Diatomes-there were a lot of diatomes found mainly at the bottom, but could be seen at the bottom of the middle water level. The diatomes were stationary
  • Mosquito larva- There was only one mosquito larva. The larva moved quick and stayed around the left side of the aquarium in the middle level of the aquarium.
